H Sherry! Great info! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and clarifying ! I saw online, Joann only offers limited warranties, and understand that extended are through the mfg.; but often sold by retailers, who get a commission on whatever it is. Not realizing Joann never offered them in the first place, which I'd based off of comments I'd read for those concerned about warranties, in general. I imagine questions coming at you constantly, gets old, and when already under stress from the unknown of Joann's fate. Crazy how it was in your newspaper, before you were notified! What an awful way to find out. Take care, and thanks for sticking it out at your store. I hope Joann makes it. I went again today and can feel the sadness in the air. 💗

That makes a lot of sense. Even 2 warehouses, east and west coast, or somewhere in between. I totally agree on the wasteful shipping. I see it from only places too, and just mentioned that very thing, in a recent video!

That was shocking, although not altogether surprising! So many huge corporations, taking over multiple companies. I looked into it a little more, out of curiosity. Looks like it's changed hands a few times, as SVP Worldwide, with Singer, Viking, and Pfaff, all under one umbrella. The latest in 2021, acquired by Platinum Equity. A private equity firm. Also, Husqvarna power tools and bikes are under other various corps., depending on the equipment! It makes my head spin!!

That's sad for both of those stores. 75 miles is a long way to go. Since they're selling assets to help pay off debit and hopefully recover in some capacity, they wouldn't be able to buy new inventory. That is, until after the upcoming court date and final decisions are made. 💁🏻‍♀️

Hi Cheryl. That sweater is so warm and cozy. A little pricey, even on sale; but glad I got it. Hopefully will last many seasons to come. Glad your Joanns aren't too terribly far. Hi. I crocheted it about 5 years ago! Just happens to go with a lot of what I wear. I can show it in my next video; but if you’re a crocheter, I could do a little tutorial, if that would help. It’s really easy, and customizable to any head size and yarn thickness.

p.s. It's actually a less wide ear warmer. I pushed it back to keep my hair out of my face! It's also tapered under the nape; so it doesn't push my hair out in a weird way!

Having a Kenmore prior I realized it wasn't advanced enough for my sewing skills, so I bought a platinum 770 I love it and have been using it 35 years, I may be wrong on the number of years,. Now I have bought a serger. Love it. I love my Viking sewing machine and will not use any other.

A viewer here commented that there was a computer issue (I think) the other day, and now gift cards are working. I noticed last night, there's a tab online to add a gift card too. That's really smart, giving Visa gift cards!

@@JConklin5280 Thank you! I just got it recently from QVC. Online home shopping network. I've had it in my wishlist for some time and then it went on sale + I had a $10 off coupon! Still rather pricey, but so is everything is now. Especially for a design like that and extra thick fibers. Super soft too! I want to curl up in it all day and night!! Two other color combos still available. Really good point about the panic buying. Plus it's hard to pass up on those sales and many people are stocking up. I bought some; but didn't go too crazy, as I'm still working through a lot of stash. Mostly bought yarn for gift blankets. Also, wanting to see what happens with Joann.

A lot of people share your sentiments. Me included. It seems Hobby Lobby has cornered the market on all that other stuff, after ruining their yarn dept. Fabric isn't so great there now either. I couldn't believe how much fleece JoAnn had when I was in last week!

Absolutely! Many others feel the same about getting back to their roots and concentrating on quality. I hope potential buyers for JoAnn are watching these videos and reading the comments!

Muncie Indiana Michael’s is closing due to a Landlord problem.

Michael’s didn’t improve when the Joann’s here closed. It has been 13 months.

@@lindamurphy6929 I didn't know Joann had already started the process more than a year ago. Been awhile then. My guess for Michael's is, any changes comes from corporate would probably be for all stores. Or at least in certain regions; so perhaps in the future we'll see them bring back more yarn.

Doubt it. I worked at Michaels. District manager came in to ask us about suggestions or problems. I brought up how many customers were complaining about the limited colors in yarn, especially Red Heart. His response? Yes, we get that complaint a lot, but we’re not carrying more colors. Now they just want to sell their brand. Trust me, big companies don’t care. If you have a small yarn or craft store near you, try them.

It's the time to stock up, for sure. Even if JoAnn makes it and keeps some stores open. You gave a good laugh, picturing a bathtub full of yarn! Great idea though! I store our bulk paper products (t.p., etc.) in our spare bathroom's small shower!

Crochet for charities is amazing, and definitely a big part for communities. I don't know what I'd do, with my JoAnn store.

Small world indeed! I go to the Valley about once a month or so, and can you believe, I’ve only been to that JoAnn once?! Nice you get to stop in often and were able to stock up. I’m going back on Monday!! Everything you said is sooo interesting! Especially helpful having insight from someone who’s been there over two decades, wow. Certainly makes one wonder, as busy as the stores are, why they’ve gone bankrupt. It would be wonderful if that location and the Valley remain open. So many sewists and yarn enthusiasts in the area, and Stevens County. I have a booth at the Chewelah Farmers Market, and every time I’m there, I meet other crochets and knitters. Never fails, someone always asks where I get my yarn, and mention there’s nothing like it up there. E-Z Sew in Colville has a yarn section (sister store to the one that closed in Spokane several years ago); and although it’s lovely, it’s still limited and all expensive yarn. Nothing else in-between that and Walmart. Anyway, nice meeting you, and thanks for the terrific info❣️

Nice meeting another Western Washingtonian! Our JoAnn is usually such a nice store. I've never seen it in a sad state. Must've been at the height of their dysfunction. Probably down-sized staff too. Although last week was the first time I'd been there in a while. I agree on Joann going back to their roots and all else you said. There's definitely a need for it; because even though Paradise is lovely, it's not for everyone ($$). 💗

Oh, I totally agree, and mentioned towards the end about better management, starting at the top. That’s where it all begins and ends, right?! Re. employee cutback, I meant temporarily, during the Chapter 11 restructuring phase. While they’re trying to increase their bottom line to pay off debt, so the business is of higher value to perspective buyers. If that’s their angle. My store is clean and nicely organized; but definitely short on employees, which is never good for business long-term. 💗

Depends on the summer heat in your area, and type of fiber you use. The cap portion is open and airy, which helps, as does a breathe and more lightweight yarn. Caron Cottin Cakes works well for it; but still, in the high heat of summer, it might be too much.

yes, we do, and I go there; but not nearly as often as I used to since they downsized their yarn department, and did away with so many of the fibers that I personally loved.

Hi, and thanks so much for the additional info. I would think that Brother and Singer’s warranties are still valid. Probably not extended warranties purchased through the store; but the mfg. warranty. Wow, that’s really disheartening about your store firing and hiring back in that way. These situations sure hurt everyone. I didn’t delve any father, into Big Lots, currently. I just presented on what I found that appeared current, and to what I know. Volatile situations change so quickly, that I wonder if Big Lots hung on as long as they could; but still couldn’t make it, even after their Chapter 11 restructuring. Or, if Gordon Bros. bought them with the intent of liquidating, from the start. Sad either way. 😢

Hi again! I just found an article written this Jan. 24th, from Spokane, WA news channel, KREM.com, about Big Lots and a list of stores closing. In Dec., they were sold to Gordon Bros., who planned to acquire between 200-400, out of the 901 stores; and continue operating them under the Big Lots brand. Interesting, huh? I guess time will tell.

Joann is still accepting any gift cards purchase before they cut off the purchase of any new ones. Yesterday there was an issue with the vendor, and gift cards were down. The issue was resolved today. Joann IS accepting gift cards.

Thanks so much for your input and clarification! Really good info and interesting about Big Lots. Probably why Gordon Bros. still has a vested interest. Since Michael's is still in business, it sure would be great if the same investor purchases JoAnn, and keeps that going too.

I am sure they had to order the spring/Easter items months ago. Sometimes stores order almost a year out for holiday items.

I really hope JoAnn stays around; but as far as seasonal inventory, stores order way in advance. Since JoAnn already had the stock, I imagine they're trying to sell as much as they can, to increase the value of their business, and decrease their debt. Making it more sellable for a business to keep it going.

Some stores are closing, I saw a map, 3 in PA, 1 in owings mill Maryland , not all as of yet.

Seasonal items are ordered months ahead of time. The big ones by me had some spring but was mostly trying to sell out Christmas leftovers. They looked sad and I don’t think they are going to make it.

@cabinfevercrochet I agree. Especially since Lion Brand closed their store in NJ. Michael's and Hobby Lobby are the dominant stores remaining. I like Michael's but Joann's is my go to and I live around the corner from Hobby Lobby. They don't really carry yarns I need or like using. I agree there's a lot that can be done with Joann's. I crochet dresses and just began putting a lining in them. I get my fabric at Joann's because it's so much better than HL.
